Co-Op Basics
The Homeschool co-op meets twice a week; every Wednesday and Friday from 9:15 to 2:15. You DO NOT have to stay when your children are in our care. Use this to your advantage while we teach your children.
Each elective is taught over a six-week period. Every six weeks the topic for each elective will change. The idea is to introduce as much to the children as possible while still allowing them to learn about the subject, grow interest and have fun.
The curriculum used for each elective is based on the lesson being taught at that time. We do not focus on any one particular curriculum or theme but strive to find the best program of study and most appropriate lessons for each individual elective being taught at that time.
Foreign Language:
The basics of Spanish are taught using curriculum for age appropriate students.
Music:
In music, the children will learn to sing, how to play the recorder and bells, and learn facts about various musicians and artists, as well as beginning music theory.
Fine Arts:
The different subjects in art will be photography, pottery, woodwork, drama, drawing and fun facts about different artists.
Home Economics:
This fun elective includes instruction in cooking, sewing, cross stitch, embroidery, everyday and special occasion etiquette, and gardening.
Language Arts:
This area of study will include writing, poetry, book reports and even debate.
Physical Education:
During PE class, the children will learn karate, dance, soccer, basketball, volleyball, tennis and track.
Science:
Science experiments are fun and exciting! Lap- books will be used along with hands on learning and research.
Field Trips:
Every six weeks your child will go on a field trip based on one of the learning topics taught during that six weeks period. These fees are extra.
